Executive Committee Meeting Minutes

ASIS SF Bay Area Chapter
Executive Committee Meeting
Juniper Networks
April 14, 2003
Present:
Chair Brad Minnis, CPP; Vice-Chair,
Patrick Sharkey, CPP; Treasurer,
Curtis Given, CPP; Secretary,
Larry Reid;
Law Enforcement Appreciation
It was agreed by all that the Law Enforcement Appreciation event was a huge
success and well received by all members. The only remaining items were
payment of some outstanding invoices yet to be submitted by
Art Lesser.
May Seminar
Patrick Sharkey CPP reported the event
is ahead of last year’s schedule. 56 booths are committed to date, with 52
booths being paid. Patrick will be making telephone contact with last year’s
participants that have not reserved a booth for this year. Also, Patrick
will coordinate the updating of the Chapter’s banner with the new logo.
Golf Tournament
Larry Reid obtained $500.00 deposit from
the Chapter Treasurer for the Spring Valley golf course.
Newsletter
The new printable newsletter format was reviewed and discussed. The
newsletter was very appealing and should be well received by all local
members. Local member Ramon Silano has
donated his time and is responsible for the re-vamping of the newsletter.
Paid advertising spots were discussed by the executive committee. After
some discussion, it was agreed the chapter should charge $100 a month for a
business card sized ad, with a six month minimum. A two month discount would
be given if the space is taken for twelve months.
Miscellaneous
Brad Minnis CPP received a Plaque from
ASIS International awarding our Chapter for last year’s work related
to the I.B. Hale. The plaques will be displayed in this year’s Seminar &
Exhibits booth and later presented to Kathy Goelkel
(I.B. Hale) and
Steve Duell (Newsletter).
John McNamara is the new Chapter
Historian. John will be looking into consolidating, organizing and storing
the Chapter’s records in a local storage unit.
Patrick Sharkey CPP reported the need
to submit all committee records to the Committees subweb (http://www.sfasis.org/sfbacomm/)
for future use. The idea is to create a guide to follow on our yearly
events, instead of recreating them every year. The Committees subweb is in
place and has some committee information and planning from last year.
Brad Minnis CPP was informed by
ASIS that the Allen J. Cross Award was being kicked off this
June. The award, being underwritten by PPM 2000, provides 25
scholarships for the annual CPP review course. Only one applicant per
Chapter may be submitted. The applications are being accepted via fax from
Noon, June 2, 2003 through June 22, 2003.
Next Executive Council Meeting
Wednesday, May 7, 2003, 1100 at Symantec, Cupertino.
Respectfully submitted by
Lawrence Reid
