The 9th Annual Larry Marshall Memorial Golf Tournament was held on August 15, 2002 at Spring Valley Golf Course, Milpitas, CA. This event was held in lieu of a regular meeting.

The day started with an 11:30am registration to a “Sold Out” tournament. Each golfer received a bag of “goodies” that included golf balls, an ASIS Logo sun visor, ASIS logo first aid and golf kit plus many other valuable items. The entire course was closed except for the SF ASIS Chapter. Lunch was served and the players warmed up on the driving range as well as the putting green. A $5,000.00 “Putting Contest” was held, unfortunately, no one made the final shot for the dollar prize. “Wait till next year" was the cry.

Co-Chairs for the event, Brad Minnis, CPP and Kris Rennett started the tournament at 1:00pm in a “shotgun” start that was to take 144 golfers on an afternoon of fun, great shooting, a try for a “Hole in One” prize of a new car (Nope not this year, more practice needed). The group played the eighteen holes until almost 7:15pm.

The tired but happy players returned to the club house that had been transformed in a celebration banquet with white linen table clothes.

The Reverend Jim Tirone, Pastor, First Presbyterian Church of Milpitas returned the Blessings for the day and the work the members were engaged in of providing protection. Kris led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. At this time, Brad and Kris, the MC’s for the evening, announced that dinner was served to the hungry crowd. Wine and steak cooked to perfection with all the trimmings was the meal. Brad and Kris announced prizes as the meal progressed. Thanks to all the kind sponsors (37 in all) of the event, there were gifts galore. Even a prize for the “HIGHEST Score of the Day” was an awarded. The tournament provided sufficient monies to allow for a $1,000.00 Donation to be made to the American Heart Association in Larry Marshall’s name.

The evening ended at approximately 8:45pm
