Present:
Chair Connie Vaughn; Vice-Chair, Brad Minnis, CPP; Treasurer, Patrick Sharkey, CPP; Secretary, Ken Fauth, CPP

Issues Discussed:

  1. Security Officer Appreciation Meeting— Patrick announced that Sherrie Moffet-Bell, Deputy Chief, Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS), State of California has confirmed her attendance as the Speaker for the October Security Officer Appreciation Day. She will be talking about "the upcoming changes in private security industry legislation in California". The Holiday Inn in Foster City, CA off of Route 91 has been reserved for the event on Thursday, October 17, 2002. Patrick's Committee for the event includes Brian Pursing and Brenda Knox CPP. The committee is working on "Selection Criteria" for the Security Officers to be recognized. Will also have to have nomination of Officers for 2003 at this meeting.
  2. Brad reported on the up-coming 9th Annual Larry Marshall Memorial Golf Tournament to be held Thursday, August 15, 2002 at Spring Valley Golf Course in Milpitas.
    11:00 - 11:30 Registration, lunch, Driving Range warm up, golf. Green fees, refreshments ALL day long, green fee, cart, PLUS dinner and awards. Cost is $125.00 per person. Car for designated "Hole-in-One" shot, plus other prizes. The "Outing is Sold Out" with 144 golfers. A donation will be made to the American Heart Association in the amount of $1000. dollars. Brad shared that 37 sponsors are signed up.
  3. Discussion centered on issuing the "2002 Dues Statement". Patrick to have drafted form and cover letter completed by end of day for executive committee to review and approve.
  4. Foundation Dinner and presentation of a Chapter Check. ASIS International September 10 – 13, in Philadelphia. Chapter will follow tradition of buying a table for the Foundation. The Event is scheduled for Thursday, September 12th. Reservations will be made for the 13 members who signed up at the July meeting. A review will be made to see what the Chapter has donated in the past and a decision will be made at the September Executive Meeting.
  5. November 21st meeting will feature Jeanne Perkins, Earthquake Program Director, Association of Bay Area Government (ABAG) speaking on the newly revised and released "Road Closure Study from Earthquakes". Site to be determined. Will need to have election of Officers for 2003 at this meeting.
  6. December 12th Meeting was discussed. There will be no formal program other than Installation of Officers for 2003. A meeting site is still being determined, discussion was centered on making a donation to the "Food Pantries" that service our members representative areas.
  7. Committee reports:
    1. Hospitality - Going well, have system down. Petty cash fund eliminated and will simply draw from general fund through Treasurer. Executive moved and supported action.
    2. CPP Committee - Rudy said that the CPP Study group was going along very well. Needed 2 volunteers to cover Sept on Physical Security (Brad volunteered) and Oct on Security Management (David Gibbs name suggested to be a point of contact).
      Rudy also announced a "Lifetime CPP Designation for Phil Gohr".
      Rudy further announced that progress was being made in getting the Society's Formal CPP Review to be presented in the Bay Area.
    3. Membership - Chair Vaughn stated that Cindy Doyle could use an assistant.
    4. Foundation - Brenda Knox and Art Lesser would be developing this area.
  8. General comments were made from the group regarding the over-all stability of the Chapter. It was noted that attendance was terrific for the past two "summer months" with around 70 folks present at each meeting. Brad mentioned that it is his goal to " build on the success of this year and help the grow even more in 2003"
  9. The meeting was adjourned at 1:15pm. Thanks to Chair Connie Vaughn and Allied Security for a wonderful lunch during are meeting!
