- ASIS International Communications
- Educational Opportunity at Webster University is an internet
delivered security course for 3 credits of graduate education in
business organization asset management.
- SFASIS Chapter received "Newsletter of the Year for 2001".
- SFASIS Chapter received Runner-up for the IB Hale Award.
- Supply Order Forms and Stationary was distributed by the Chair to
the Officers.
- Adobe cannot make the presentation at the April 19th Meeting. We may
use their space however. Chair Vaughn to contact Holly Stone at
Hinman Consulting Engineers as possible alternate speaker.
- Speakers Bureau was discussed at previous meetings. We should
identify individuals who would like to make presentations on various
subjects. Discussion then centered around trying to get members to submit
there topics on "what they would be willing to speak on". Connie to
coordinate with Steve Duell to see how to get the word out to
members and build a data base of those who want to participate. Before any
final list is made available to the WEB SITE, the Executive Committee
would review it.
- Rudy DuBord, CPP Committee Chair
requested that the Chapter purchase the new CPP Study Guide ($104)
and a new addition of the Asset Protection Manual ($1099). Gary
Sepulveda support this as the liaison person for DeAnza College Library
who maintain and administer the Chapter's Library. Fauth moved to
purchase, seconded by Minnis. Motion carried.
- Chapter May 16 Annual Seminar and Exhibit –
Patrick Sharkey reported that all
continues to be on track for the event. Questions were raised whether we
wanted to use the ASIS Booth from International Headquarters (Patrick to
check availability and cost). ASIS Promotional literature has been
ordered. A video exists on ASIS, question was asked if we wanted it. Fauth
supported use of it. The presenters from the February meeting, K-9
Detection, will be an exhibitor and not making another presentation.
- Blue Ribbon Task Force on Airport Security is ONLY for CEO's so will
not have any SFASIS direct input. The meeting for "8-Ball" is scheduled
for Tuesday, 12th Brad to attend. The question of having an official
liaison with HTCIA was discussed and rejected.
- June and July Membership Meetings …We have had a Program Committee
Chair in the past. Fauth to check with Seibel to see if they have any
interest.
- Membership: Certificates sent - 2. New members listed this year – 8
new / 3 interim / 2 transfers-in
- Ed Loyd , Chair for the May 15th
Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Day presented his report on the status
of the function. Theme would focus on 911. Willie Harper, former
49'ers Line Backer will be the Keynote speaker. Attendees will each
receive an autographed photo and sign miniature football helmet. Invitees
were discussed as well as sponsorship and number of attendees. It was
decided that more time would be needed for this topic. A follow-up meeting
for Friday was scheduled with key function organizers.
- Hospitality Committee-JR Rucker/ Julie Snipes
reported on registration for the Law Enforcement event. JR reported that
he had completed the purchase of an American Flag for Chapter meetings and
for a portable cart to move support equipment and supplies for the
meetings. A question was raised where checks should be sent. JR said he
would add address on where to mail.
- Rudy DuBord, CPP and Chair of the
CPP Committee thanked the Chapter for the earlier purchases of the CPP
Study Guide and POA Manual. Rudy discussed a "study group" for those
wishing to take the exam. Discussion also centered around ASIS
Headquarters "Review" coming to our area. Rudy to check into it.
- Librarian-Gary Sepulveda, CPP
guided the conversation on how access should be granted to CPP Study
material at the Reserve Desk at DeAnza College. Consensus seemed to be for
a three (3) day period
Meeting adjourned at 1:30pm.
Next meeting of the Executive Council is April 3rd, 2002 at 11 AM at Allied
Security Office in San Jose.
