Getting Involved - Get Noticed
For the last four years, the SFBA Chapter has had a website that has been
growing by leaps and bounds. Each year we have added additional website
features that have invited our members to become more involved with ASIS and
with our Chapter. In this issue, I will be reviewing some of the ways that you
can contribute to our website and to share with your fellow Chapter members.
Share Your Success. In our
Member Achievements area,
you can share your professional achievements and accomplishments with the
rest of our Chapter (and the whole Cyber-world).
Are you a CPP? Our CPP
Member Profiles are modeled after those presented by ASIS
International headquarters. Submit your own CPP Member Profile or update
your existing one in our index of SFBA CPP members.
Feel like Writing? Our monthly
Newsletter is for our
members, so please don’t be shy about contributing to it. We welcome member
contributed articles that follow the rule of
Professional Conduct at Chapter
Meetings and we encourage our Chapter Committees to submit their updates as
newsletter articles.
Job Seeking? Visit the
Placement section of our website. Submit your own or review the
current job openings that SFBA Placement Chairman, John Suhr (who has been
doing an excellent job of keeping track of security related job openings in
our Chapter area for years) has available.
Got Something to Say? Our
Speaker’s Bureau is a
terrific opportunity to let others know that you are available for speaking
engagements as well as being a great place to search for security speakers.
Got Anti-Terrorism? The
Call To Duty special
section of our website is entirely dedicated to anti-terrorism topics. From
safety guidelines to security bulletins as well as Sept 11 photos and links
to other antiterrorism websites, this section has become one of the most
heavily “contributed to” sections of our website.
Want to Talk to Someone? Our
Debriefing Room is a BBS style members-only chat room where you can
post messages to your fellow Chapter members as well as read what others had
to say.
Do you have My Number? Our members-only Chapter
Membership Directory should be updated anytime that you change your
contact information or attain an ASIS designation (CPP, PCI, PSP). An
emailed confirmation will remind you to also update your records with our
national headquarters.
These are just a few of the ways that you can use your SFBA Chapter
website to become more involved and to be known as an “active” member.
“Member contributions” are the heart and soul of ASIS and now is the time to
get involved.
