General Membership Meeting Minutes

General Meeting Membership Minutes for the 19 July 2001, Applied Materials, Santa Clara, CA

The monthly meeting of the San Francisco Bay Chapter of the American Society for Industrial Security was called to order by Chapter Chairman Ronald R. Sathre CPP at 10:01 a.m.

Chairman Sathre lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

Because Chapter Chaplain Gary Sepulveda CPP was unable to attend the meeting, Chairman Sathre offered the invocation.

Chairman Sathre introduced Vice-Chairman Connie Vaughn and excused Treasurer Brad Minnis due to a family emergency. Mr. Jim McMahon was asked to give an introduction to Applied Materials and was thanked for sharing his facilities with the Chapter today.

Chairman Sathre asked for a motion, which was seconded and approved, to suspend the regular reading of the previous meeting minutes and Treasurer’s Report, which will be reported in the chapter newsletter (www.sfasis.org). During the course of the meeting, Chairman Sathre distributed his now common “Why Did You Come…” questionnaires to all in attendance. Additionally, committee reports were given by Connie Vaughn & Larry Reid regarding the Larry Marshall Memorial Golf Tournament on 17 August; John Suhr regarding the Placement Committee; Rudy DuBord regarding the recent CPP developments; and Ed Loyd regarding the 18 October ’01 Security Officer Recognition Luncheon. Chairman Sathre briefed everyone about a special 45th Anniversary Chapter Social event planned for Saturday, 22 September. He also recognized Mr. Lew Shatz CPP and John Suhr as past Chapter Chairs. Approximately five ASIS members, who had not been previously recognized at a Chapter meeting, were asked to stand and be noted. Two guests were also recognized. With Ms. Kendra Pollack’s request to be released from her assignment, she found two new volunteers to take her place: Mr. JR Rucker and Ms. Julie Snipes, both from Recall Secure Destruction Services, Inc. Ms. Pollack was thanked for her service and Mr. Rucker and Ms. Snipes were welcomed aboard. As their first day “on the job”, they did a wonderfully.

Vice-Chair Vaughn came to the head of the conference room to introduce Mr. Don Mills as our guest speaker. Don, who is the Senior Investigator, Global Security at Applied Materials, did an excellent job of presenting the many aspects of emergency planning and disaster recovery he co-authored with Mike Dodge while at Adaptec Corporation.

Chairman Sathre CPP returned to the front of the conference room and thanked those in attendance (approximately 40) for coming. Chairman Sathre, recognizing the high level of business/security expertise we have within the Chapter, and using Mr. Mills as an example, encouraged the Chapter members to volunteer as guest speakers in the future. Chairman Sathre adjourned the ASIS SFBA meeting at 11:28 a.m.

Respectfully Submitted,
Ronald R. Sathre CPP, Chapter Chairman,
Substituting for the Chapter Secretary
