General Membership Meeting Minutes
General Meeting Membership Minutes for the 29th Annual Seminar and Exhibits held at the San Mateo (CA) Expo Center. The monthly meeting of the San Francisco Bay Chapter of the American Society for Industrial Security was called to order by Chapter Chairman Ronald R. Sathre CPP at 12:15 p.m. Chairman Sathre lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Because Chapter Chaplain Gary Sepulveda CPP was unable to attend the meeting, Chairman Sathre CPP offered the invocation. Chairman Sathre CPP introduced the head table which included Patrick Sharkey CPP Seminar & Exhibit Committee Chair; Denny Haw CPP, Committee Finance Chair; Steve Duell, Webmaster for the Chapter, Kathy Goelkel, Chairman Emeritus and the guest speaker Mr. William Kinane. Vice-Chairman Connie Vaughn was seated in the audience and Treasurer Brad Minnis was excused due to business obligations. Chairman Sathre CPP asked for a motion, which was seconded and approved, to suspend the regular meeting business activities, which will be reported in the chapter newsletter (www.sfasis.org) to allow time for the Seminar and Exhibits Program. He spoke briefly about several calendar items and encouraged all to visit the Chapter website to keep in touch with what’s going on in the SFBA Chapter. Former Chapter Chairman Sam Pappageorge was remembered as news of his passing was shared with the membership. Approximately 20 CPP’s were recognized in the audience. Mr. Steve Duell was recognized for single-handed and excellent efforts in putting together our website and assisting with the newsletter. Patrick Sharkey CPP was welcomed to the podium and discussed various aspects of putting the Seminar & Exhibits together for 2001. Committee Chair Sharkey CPP identified his committee members and sponsors for this excellent event. After lunch was served, he introduced the guest speaker Mr. William Kinane. Mr. Kinane shared some eye-opening statistics and experiences with the audience related to his five years (it was supposed to only be a two year assignment) at the US Embassy in Moscow, Russia as the FBI Legal Attaché’. It was well worth the time to hear what he had to say related to organized crime in Russia and how it affected business in America. Committee Chair Sharkey CPP thanked Mr. Kinane for an excellent presentation. Chairman Sathre CPP returned to the podium, thanked those in attendance (guests, sponsors and exhibitors) for attending our special annual event and adjourned the ASIS SFBA meeting. Respectfully Submitted, |
