Success Is Spelled: 29th Annual Security Seminar And Exhibits!

After three successful monthly Chapter meetings and one major event so far this year, the new way to spell success is: 29th Annual Security Seminar and Exhibits!

Those of you who attended received not just the latest in security information and technology from our many exhibitors and speakers, but you CPP’s also earned credit toward your CPP re-certifications.

The excellent program Patrick Sharkey CPP and Denny Haw CPP, along with their dedicated committee, together for us this year was nothing less than superb! All involved with this very important event for the Chapter deserves our heart-felt thanks for a major job well done. Our speaker, Mr. William Kinane, provided us with an eye-opening description of his liaison experiences as the FBI Legal Attache’ in Moscow, Russia.

An interesting note to this event is that after last year’s event I asked Patrick if he’d be interested in co-chairing the event in 2001. He graciously agreed (a trait of a dedicated volunteer), but then his co-chair couldn’t commit to the event. Instead of bailing out, Patrick continued to march and between he, Denny (who is another fine example of total dedication to the chapter) and their valiant committee members they pulled of an event we’ll all remember for years to come.

Speaking of definitions, while many of our Chapter members are tied up with their own jobs and responsibilities, Patrick Sharkey (who even took personal vacation to meet his May Seminar commitments) is a sterling example of the type of dedicated member that keeps this Chapter going! Thank you Patrick.

As I conducted the May Seminar Chapter business meeting, I took the opportunity to identify those CPP’s in attendance. While I couldn’t get their names, I counted at least 20 in the audience. That’s about 20% of our chapter’s share of CPP’s. Let’s keep the momentum going!

Two of our former Chapter Chairs in attendance were: Denny Haw CPP and Brenda Knox CPP.

In my monthly SFBA Chapter Longevity Recognition Award Program we saw too many to name at the May Seminar. Thanks for coming guys & gals.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank our generous sponsors: Acme Security Systems; Advanced Micro Devices; Guidant Corporation; IR Security & Safety Consultants; Lorinix Information Systems; Pinkerton Security; RFI Enterprises, Inc; SimsMetal America; Telepath Corporation and U.S. Audio. A special thanks also goes out to our many fine exhibitors. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year for an even bigger and more exciting event.

On another topic, we still have several positions open within the chapter and need “qualified” volunteers to help out. One very important position of Secretary is still open. To say the least, we want to entertain a candidate who has the spirit and dedication to commit to the full service.
