General Meeting Membership Minutes for the April 19th meeting held at Agilent, Santa, Clara, CA

Thursday, April 19, 2001

  • 9:30 – 10 a.m. Registration and Networking
  • 10:00 - ASIS Business
  • The meeting was called to order at 10 a.m. by Ron Sathre CPP, Chapter Chairman
  • Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Chapter Chairman Ron Sathre CPP
  • Invocation was provided by Chapter Chaplain Gary Sepulveda CPP
  • Chapter Business was conducted by Ron Sathre CPP
  • Ron asked for a motion, which was seconded and approved, to accept the Treasurer’s Report and Meeting Minutes as posted on the SFBA ASIS Website
  • Monthly Meeting Survey was handed out. Results will help steer the direction of future meetings
  • CPP Recognition – Ron asked for those who were designated with a CPP designation to be recognized. The CPP designee’s in attendance were:
    • Gary Sepulveda
    • Dennis Haw
    • Patrick Sharkey
    • Brenda Knox
    • Ray O”Hara
    • Mike Francis
  • Former Chapter Chairs - The former Chapter Chairs in attendance were:
    • Dennis Haw CPP
    • Brenda Knox CPP
  • As part of the year long celebration of the Chapter’s 45th Anniversary, Ron, through his “ASIS SFBA Chapter Longevity Recognition Program” acknowledged the following members:
    • 1970’s: Ray O’Hara CPP and Greg Para
    • 1980’s: Mike Francis CPP and Brenda Knox CPP
    • 1990’s: Pete Kutch

New Business:

  • Annual Seminar and Exhibits Chair Patrick Sharkey announced the meeting is to be held at the San Mateo Expos Center, May 17. There are still a few Exhibitor and Sponsorship spaces left! More information is on the website at www.sfasis.org.
  • Recognizing the importance of ASIS membership, Ron encouraged all the non-members in attendance today to join ASIS by completing the applications available at the registration table.
  • CPP Certification pamphlets were also available
  • 10:15 a.m. - Speaker James Gordon, Pinkerton Consulting and Investigation. James is a senior managing director with responsibility for Pinkerton’s Global Product Protection Program, High-tech Investigations and Information Security. James spoke on the latest programs and technologies being implemented by Fortune 1000 companies for managing their Global Product Protection and Brand Integrity Programs. Counterfeit and gray market products are costing corporation over $250 billion worldwide.
  • 11:15 a.m. - Closing comments by Ron Sathre CPP

Member Sam Pappageorge passed away, more information to follow.
