Minutes for the
38th Annual St. Patrick's Law Enforcement Appreciation Day Luncheon
held at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, Sunnyvale, CA.
Friday, March 16, 2001

- The meeting was called to order at noon by
David Gibbs CPP, Master of Ceremonies
- Pledge of Allegiance was lead Chapter Chairman

- Invocation was provided by Chapter Chaplain

- Opening Remarks were provided by David Gibbs

- Chapter Business was conducted by Ron Sathre
CPP:
- Ron asked for a motion, which was seconded
and approved, to suspend the regular meeting business activities, which
will be reported in the chapter newsletter (www.sfasis.org), to allow
time for the 38th Annual St. Patrick's Law Enforcement Appreciation Day
Luncheon.
- Ron introduced the Head Table:

- Connie Vaughn, Vice-Chair was
seated with her guests
- Brad Minnis CPP, Treasurer, was
excused as he was on vacation.
- Recognizing the importance of ASIS
membership, Ron encouraged all the non-members in attendance today
to join ASIS by completing the applications available at the
registration table.
- For all those who qualified, Ron
encouraged them to take the CPP examination. In a continuing effort
to promote the CPP Program, Ron asked that all the CPP's stand and
be recognized. Of the nearly 100 CPP's in the Chapter, over 10% were
in attendance at today's luncheon.
- Stressing to the audience that they
could get a great deal of important security related information
through the Internet, Ron encouraged everyone to visit the Chapter's
website at: www.sfasis.org. Additionally, the Chapter Newsletter
could be found at the website.
- In a continuing effort to give credit to those who helped pave the
way for us today, Ron also recognized all the Past Chapter Chair's.
Approximately ten were in attendance.
- With some unique challenges facing Ron as he put on this year's
program, he recognized Kendra Pollack, Connie Vaughn and John Suhr
for their time and talent in helping make this event successful.
- As part of the year long celebration
of the Chapter's 45th Anniversary, Ron, through his "ASIS SFBA
Chapter Longevity Recognition Program," identified members of
ASIS from the 1960's and 1970's. For their efforts and years of
service to ASIS and this chapter, the following members were given
baseballs autographed by the keynote speaker, Jay Johnstone:

- Filling in for the Annual May Seminar &
Exhibits Committee Chair Patrick Sharkey CPP, Denny Haw CPP announced the
details of the program this year. He also encouraged all to read the
brochure at their tables, and to attend the Annual May Seminar and Exhibits
on Thursday, May 17, 2001 at the San Mateo Expo Center.

David also recognized the efforts of
Chapter Chair Ron Sathre CPP for almost single-handedly putting this
year's program together. Ms. Beth Cala from AnyEvent was also
acknowledged.
- Lunch was served.
- 1:10 p.m. - David introduced our Key Note
Speaker: Mr. Jay Johnstone. Mr. Johnstone was a former player from the
Yankees, A's, Angels, Dodgers, Phillies and Cubs. He had three World Series
appearances, including two titles. Jay shared several of his personal
baseball experiences. He encouraged everyone to learn what he/she does best
and make that his/her focus in life. He was well received by our attendees.
- 1:40 p.m. - David presented Jay with a special
large box of See's Candy and thanked him for his appearance. David closed
our meeting.
