General Meeting Membership Minutes for the
November 15, 2001,
Lockheed Martin Missile & Space Facilities, Sunnyvale, CA
The monthly meeting of the San Francisco Bay
Chapter of the American Society for Industrial Security was called to order by
Chapter Chairman Ronald R. Sathre CPP at
10:00 am.
Chairman Sathre welcomed the members and
introduced our host for today’s meeting, Michael Parkers, Manager,
Security & Emergency Services, and Lockheed Martin Missile & Space. Chairman
Sathre thanked Brad Minnis CPP of Jupiter
Networks for the morning’s refreshments.
Chairman Sathre led the group in the Pledge of
Allegiance and offered the Invocation.
Chairman Sathre announced that the chapter’s
minutes of previous meetings could be found at the chapter's web site.
Chairman Sathre asked the Treasure,
Brad Minnis, for a report. Brad stated that
the full report was also on the web site. The chapter balance of October 1, 2001
was $40,422.54, with a major expense for the month being the “Security Officers
Appreciation Luncheon” of $11,616.71 so far. The ending balance is $28,742.76.
Chairman Sathre announced that our chapter web
site and Webmaster Steve Duell had been recognized by ASIS newly elected
President as an outstanding site.
Chairman Sathre asked the I B Hale Committee
Chair, Kathy Goelkel, for a report. Kathy
stated that the support material had been collected for this year’s submission
for consideration of the I B Hale Award, passed it to Chairman Sathre for review
and forwarding on to our Regional Vice President, Rob
Williams. Rob needs to insure that it arrives at ASIS Headquarters no
later than the end of this month. Chairman Sathre commended Kathy for all the
hard work and effort she had put forth in assembling the parts and requirements
for consideration and completing the task. The membership also supported her
efforts with applause.
Chairman Sathre asked that all those with a CPP
stand and be recognized. The following
CPP’s in attendance stood and were individually
recognized: Brad Minnis; Jeff Gurule; David Gibbs; Lee
Obanien; Jim Serrano; Dennis Haw; Ken Fauth and
Ron Sathre.
Chairman Sathre, in accordance with the Society’s
By-Laws, asked the Nominating Committee Chair, Kathy
Goelkel, for the committees’ nominations for Chapter Officers for the
2002 Year. The following were nominated by the committee: Chair,
Connie Vaughn; Vice-Chair,
Brad Minnis; Treasurer, Patrick Sharkey;
Secretary, Ken Fauth. The floor was passed
to Denny Haw, who in accordance with the
Society’s By-Laws, explained the procedures for nominations from the floor.
Denny Haw then proceeded to call for nominations for each office. Having
received no additional nominations from the floor for any of the positions,
Denny Haw then proceeded to have a vote for the Nominations Committee
recommendation for each office. Each nominee received a majority of vote casts.
The following were declared Officer’s elect for the 2002 Year term: Chair,
Connie Vaughn, Vice-Chair,
Brad Minnis; Treasurer,
Patrick Sharkey; Secretary,
Ken Fauth.
Chairman Sathre introduced our speaker, Dr.
Dana Picore, of Picore & Associates. Dr. Picore is a licensed therapist and
spoke with us on “Threat Assessment”. She described what is involved in Threat
Assessments and shared with the group her “Ten-Point Threat Assessment
Program”.
Our next meeting is a luncheon celebrating the
chapters 45th Anniversary and some special activities and the swearing in of
Officers for 2002. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, December 13, 2001,
11:30 at National Semiconductor.
Chairman Sathre closed the meeting at 11:30am.
