My Fellow Americans...

I’m too old to wear a uniform,
I’m too poor to buy a bomb,
I’m too few to be an army,
Of any more than one.
I am not a Senator,
A governor or a mayor,
I am just a citizen,
But He knows that I care.
I’m not a man of power,
I haven’t got a throne,
I cannot change the world myself,
But I don’t stand alone.
I live in a country,
Where we are all born free,
But freedom is not without cost,
And now it’s up to me.
What can I do?
How can I help?
I must choose quick,
I must not fail.
Too much at stake,
To stand aside,
I can’t be weak,
It’s time to fight.
I’ll donate blood,
I’ll buy a bond,
I’ll fly my flag,
I’ll sing our songs.
I’ll support our troops,
It’s all that I can do,
But now my fellow American,
It’s entirely up to you.
By your humble citizen,
Steve Duell
