Chairman's Corner

Chairman's Corner

I hope you are all having a good summer and that you have made your reservation to join us at Sunol on August 18th for the Golf Tournament. We are looking forward to a fun-filled time. If you are not a golfer, at least join us for lunch!

We had a small group join us for the July meeting, but the speaker and topic were very timely. Reverend Don Morgan spoke to us about his suggestions for 5 practices to develop for a more balanced lifestyle, including

  1. Know what your purpose is in life
  2. Know what your key values are
  3. Know your top 3 goals for the rest of your life
  4. Make a daily practice of some sort of reflection, meditation, prayer, or whatever puts you on track
  5. Be in a community with others who value the same things you do. They will help you stay balanced.

He says he believes 85% of people don't maintain balance in their lives, and I am afraid he may be right. We are all pulled in so many directions, I think it is important to take the time to think about what is really important to you.

Other points from the meeting, our thanks to Acufacts for the door prizes, they are appreciated and we always need door prizes for our meetings, so let us know if you have anything you might donate. The Chapter Complementary Seminar Registration was awarded to Ron Sathre. The decision was made to support the Foundation by buying a table at the Foundation dinner and to donate $2500 in addition from our Chapter. If you plan to attend the National Seminar in Orlando and would like to attend the dinner, please contact Ron Sathre. Spaces are limited to the number of seats, so let Ron know if you would like to be considered for one of them.

The hard copies of the directory were distributed to those who wanted them, in general, in agreement with our survey results, everyone seems pleased to utilize an on-line version. Copies will also be available at upcoming meetings if you do want one. Once again, we will not be mailing them to the entire membership, so let us know if you need one and are not able to make the meeting. We would also appreciate it if everyone would pay his or her local chapter dues to Lynette.

Next meeting, August 18th for golf, no local chapter meeting in September due to National, and October is Security Officer Appreciation luncheon. Contact Connie Vaughn for more info or to help with the Security Officer Luncheon- cvaughn@alliedsecurity.com. Roni Davis, Golf Chair could also use help with Golf registration, so let her know if you can help with Golf - bluelakeconsult@aol.com.
