SFBA General Meeting Minutes

Thursday, April 20, 2000

The meeting was called to order at 12:05 p.m. by Chairman Kathy Goelkel. The meeting began with the pledge of allegiance followed by the invocation by Ron Sathre. The head table was introduced and Kathy announced her new contact information will be posted on the website as she has accepted a new job at www.BIGWORDS.com.

Guests were introduced and a motion was made and carried to accept last month's minutes as posted on the website. Lynette Foulger, Treasurer, read the Treasurer's Report and it was approved and accepted via motion.

Brenda Knox gave a Committee Report on the Annual Seminar and Exhibits on May 18th at The San Mateo Expo Center. The Chairman's Reception will be held the night before from 6-8 pm, also at the Expo Center. Over 90 Exhibits will be at the Expo, along with Seminars on Integrated Technologies, Wide Area Integrated Security Systems, Terrorism and Workplace Violence. The Luncheon speaker is Ginger Graham, speaking on Customer Service. Registration is being handled by The Registration Desk at www.regdesk.com.

The revised Annual Chapter Audit was read by Kathy Goelkel as Dennis Haw was unavailable.

Kathy announced the Chapter has won the I.B. Hale Award for last year, and she thanked Kathy Schnake for doing a great job as Chairman last year. The Chapter also won an Honorable Mention for Newsletter of the Year, and Kathy thanked Mike Pinelli, Newsletter Editor and Steve Duell, Webmaster.

The Hospitality Committee was thanked for all their on-going hard work, and in particular thanks to Ama Thiaray, Chairman, who has had to resign due to commitments at work. Kendra Ahlquist continues as Co-Chair, and a request was made for volunteers for a new Co-Chair and more committee members.

The speaker was introduced, Keith Lowry from Pilot Networks, and he gave an interesting program about e-commerce and different types of threats and attacks. Keith said that bragging rights is the most common motivator, and that trying to catch the attacker is like trying to get a drink of water while standing under Niagara Falls.

Door prizes were donated by Instashred and were given to attendees, and the meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,
Kathy Goelkel
Chairman
