Hi Everyone-

This month's meeting is Security Officer Recognition Day and we hope you will be joining us! See the flier and sign up form, or contact Connie Vaughn or Kendra Ahlquist for more information. The goal of this event is to recognize your top officers and thank them either for specific contributions of excellence or for their ongoing key participation as one of the top people on your team. Brenda Knox is heading up the speakers program and we have a program that will be directed toward the officers, highlighting some of our chapter members and how they have achieved their leadership positions. Several of them began as Security Officers at one time. Officers whose names have been submitted for recognition prior to the event will receive certificates and a gift from the Chapter.

We continue to seek articles and information about our members' accomplishments for our web newsletter, so please let us know about key accomplishments or speaker presentations you or other chapter members on your team have made this past year. We are also working on the IB Hale submission and we need your information right away!

We are getting ready to launch two discussion or "chat" rooms as part of our website. One will be for the general use of the membership and will be accessed through the password-protected section that currently contains the online Directory. We felt that would enable us to talk to our chapter members without having liability for postings made by people outside the chapter. The other will be targeted toward committees and enable them to do more on-line planning for events etc. If you would like to help with the website or any other committee we could use some more Committee members.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Lynette Foulger for serving as Treasurer this year, Lynette has resigned that spot to pursue a new job opportunity out-of -state. I will be appointing someone to take over that position at the meeting this month. We wish Lynette lots of luck in her new endeavors! We will also be presenting the slate of officers for next year at this month's meeting.  Next month will be elections and December is the investiture.

The year has gone quickly, and we would really appreciate your input as we make plans for next year. Take our Online Survey to communicate where you would like to see our meetings held and how often we should meet. We are finding that people have much less time to devote to meetings and volunteer activities, and we are trying to find the best way to meet the needs of the Chapter. We do however, need your thoughts and any time you might be willing to share to help maintain this Chapter.

I hope to see you on Thursday, October 19 at the Sunnyvale Hilton for Security Officer Recognition Day. There will be an Executive Counsel meeting at 10 am prior to the luncheon. November 16th will be a regular meeting, and December 21 will be our Christmas party.
