MIGRATION OF NEWSLETTER TO 21ST CENTURY

The Executive Committee has recently completed a review of the
Chapters financial history and one fact stands out; the
Chapter can no longer continue to afford to provide a newsletter under the current method
of production. After much discussion, it was agreed that Chapter would begin the
migration of the newsletter from a publication on paper to a publication on the SFBA Web
site (www.sfasis.org). In this months
newsletter, you will notice that some articles are not published and refer the reader to
the web site for access to the information. By June, the goal is to have all the articles
on the web site. The Chapter will continue to send out a printed
notice regarding the speaker and workshop information, time, date, and location for next
monthly meeting. However, the long-term goal is to email this information to the
membership or possibly do a global fax.
At the web site, there is an online form that allows the members to
provide their email address to the Chapter for the purpose of meeting notification. Please
take a moment and fill in this information so that we can more efficiently keep the
membership informed on chapter meetings and events.
To accomplish this we have been working with our webmaster, Steve Duell of A-FIRST Website Designs to provide changes, enhancements,
and improvements to the web site. The biggest change is that we are no longer going to
restrict the members section. This will now be available to anyone who has a connection to
the Internet. Other changes include having ASIS National list the SFBA web site as a link
on the ASIS National web page (www.asisonline.org).
A second link has also been placed on a special ASIS National web page for Chapter
web sites that offer an online Calendar of Events.
Our web site will also be offering our vendors, suppliers, member
companies and others the opportunity to place a link at our web site.
There will be an annual fee for maintaining this link. Any advertiser who has paid for
their 1999 newsletter advertisement will not have this fee for 1999. All other advertisers
will pay a prorated fee for the remainder of the year.
The Officers are excited about this change. We welcome your feedback
and comments on how to continue to utilize the Chapter Web site to its best advantage to
provide you, the member, with quality information and service. |
