General Membership Meeting Minutes

February 18, 1999
The meeting was called to order by Chapter Chair Kathy Schnake, CPP. Ms. Schnake led
the attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Chapter Secretary and Chaplain Ronald R. Sathre, CPP, encourage those in attendance to
identify those around them, either at work or home, who need assistance and provide what
they could. He then gave the invocation.
Ms. Schnake introduced the head table. Guests at the individual tables were
introduced.
The meeting minutes for January 1999 as published in the newsletter were approved. Mr.
Dennis Haw, CPP, Budget and Finance Committee, completed an audit of the finances and
found them to be satisfactory. This report substantially reflected the written
January 1999 Treasurer's Report as provided by Treasure Kathy Goelkel (absent today).
The report was approved.
Ms. Schnake briefed/introduced to the attendees the following:
- Ms. Janice Peth, CPP, CPP Review and Examinations, briefed the audience about the CPP
Certification Board's desire to receive new ideas to better serve the current and future
CPP community. All suggestions may be submitted to Ms. Peth.
- Ms. Brenda Knox, CPP, RVP, congratulated the Chapter for it's success in 1998 as
reflected in the minutes from last month. Ms. Knox's goals and objectives for 1999
are to:
a) Report to national the status of each of her eight assigned chapters.
b.) Support the chapters through a mutual aid program.
c.) Establish a speakers and workshop list.
d.) Establish a monitoring program to bring up qualified members to take over officer
position in the chapters.
- As a reminder, the ASIS Pacific Rim Conference will be held from 29-31 March in Hawaii.
Ms. Knox recommended it to everyone.
- Mr. Mike Pinelli has come from the ranks to be our new newsletter co-editor.
Remember, the deadline is the first Monday after the chapter meeting for article
submittals.
- Art Lesser discussed the final plans for the upcoming St. Patrick's Law Enforcement
Appreciation Day Luncheon, 17 March at the Santa Clara Marriott Hotel. He encouraged
everyone to identify a special officer in their cities to recognize and bring him/her to
the annual luncheon. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m.
- Ms. Cindy Doyle introduced new chapter members and distributed new member certificates.
Mr. Greg Morrill, CPP, introduced his boss and luncheon speaker, Chief William (Bill)
Lansdowne, San Jose Police Department. Chief Lansdowne shared his vision of the
future for both the city of San Jose and the police department.
