ASIS is pleased to have Ms. Justine Witt Milani and Mr. Thomas A. Counts present the topic of: WORKPLACE INVESTIGATIONS, at the February ASIS workshop. These two speakers are attorneys in the Labor & Employment Department from the law firm of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter, & Hampton LLP.

Ms. Milani will present current case law rulings of Cotran V. Huding Hall International: Good Faith Belief of Misconduct Adequate to Support Termination Ruling and Silva v. Lucky Store, Inc.: The Anatomy of an Effective Investigation. These two cases set case laws and current standards for the employer in workplace investigations. The case laws reflect the current needs of management to investigate cases of sexual, racial, harassment, workplace violence, theft, drug usage, or other potentially volatile issues.

The workshop will cover what the current legal concerns and case laws are, regarding the actual investigation process. The workshop will provide specific areas and consider actions for the assigned personnel involved in these types of investigations. You will come away with information that can save you and your company heartache and money.
