January 21, 1999
The meeting was called to order by Chapter Chair Kathy Schnake, CPP. Ms. Schnake led
the attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Chapter Chaplain Ronald R. Sathre, CPP, encouraged those in attendance to work
diligently, both from a personal and professional perspective, to make 1999 a successful
year. He then gave the invocation.
Ms. Schnake introduced the head table. Ms. Chris Wright, Orange County (CA) ASIS was
recognized. Guests at the individual tables were introduced.
The meeting minutes for December 1998 as published in the January 1999 issue of the Bay
Area Network was approved. Kathy Goelkel, Treasurer, presented her report, which also
was approved.
Ms. Schnake briefed/introduced to the attendees the following new business:
- The first Executive Council Meeting was held today and it was a success.
- The ASIS Pacific Rim Conference will be held from 29-31 March 1999 in Hawaii.
- The newsletter deadline is the first Monday after the chapter meeting. A volunteer has
come from the ranks to be our new newsletter editor. Help in putting the newsletter
together is always appreciated. Articles are encouraged and welcomed.
- Art Lesser discussed the plans for the upcoming St. Patrick's Law Enforcement
Appreciation Day Luncheon. He promised everyone would have a good time.
- Denny Raw, CPP, 1999 Budget & Finance Chair, briefed the 1998 Annual Chapter Audit
he completed.
- Bob Denny, CPP, announced a local intelligence conference to be held on 24 February.
Luncheon speaker, Mr. Jim Cawood, shared his perspective on "New
Developments in Threat Assessment."
A special long distance message was shared at the luncheon from Ms. Brenda Knox, CPP,
RVP, that the Chapter won the I.B. Hale Award, received an Honorable Mention for the
"Bay Area Network", and last year's RVP Ms. Nancy McKenzie, CPP was named
"RVP of the Year."
