Chairman's Corner

Many thanks to Dennis Haw, Kathy
Goelkel, Ama Thiaray, Liaqaat Ali, and all of the wonderful speakers who
organized and presented the outstanding one-day FREE seminar Dennis Haw on
September 16,1999. There were over 185 attendees from the chapters in Region II
who learned many interesting facts about Anti-Terrorism: Understanding and
Planning. The San Francisco Bay Area chapter hopes to make a one-day free
seminar an annual event.
If you weren’t in Las
Vegas, you missed a great convention. Here
were all kinds of new things to see, old friends to say hi to, and many events
to attend. If you went and were
bored, you were definitely sitting in your room.
The next meeting is Security
Officer Recognition Day on FRIDAY,
October 22, 1999. Committee Chairman Chuck Gorley has persuaded Bill Wipprecht,
a Vice President with Wells Fargo Bank and a long time member of the San
Francisco Bay Area Chapter, to be our luncheon speaker. Hope to see all of you
there. Please note the date change on your calendars and plan to attend this fun
event.
In November, the guest speaker
will be Ralph Tonseth, the Director of Aviation for the San Jose International
Airport. There are many exciting
changes occurring with this medium-hub airport and Ralph will be educating the
membership on what those changes are and what they will mean to San Jose and its
airport’s future.
In addition, in November,
we will be holding the election for the new officers for 2000.
Unfortunately, Roni Davis has indicated that, due to business
requirements, she will not be able to continue as an officer for the chapter.
Roni will continue as Vice Chairman through the end of the year and will
then assume the chairmanship of the Larry Marshall Golf Tournament.
Plan to attend the November meeting to hear this great speaker and to
vote for the new officers.
Mark your calendars for October
22, 1999 (FRIDAY) and November 18, 1999. These are not-to-be-missed
meetings. See you there. |
